Monk Facts

Exclusive to Double Monk, the Macquarie is a type of shoe commonly called an “Adelaide” because it has a u-throat around the facing (where the lacing is). It has subtle brogue work and no toe medallion. It has a touch more elegance and dash than a standard cap-toe oxford, and can lift a suit ensemble just that little bit.

Named after Lachlan Macquarie, the 5th Governor of New South Wales, this shoe is perfect for the Australian gentleman who works in the city, but has a bit of conservative flair.

The Macquarie is built on the 379 last, which is generous and rounded at the fore, and neat at the heel.

Founded in Northampton in 1879, Crockett & Jones is a fifth generation family-owned company. Representing the finest in materials and workmanship, Crockett & Jones’ Goodyear welted shoes are 100% made in England.
